Metal Art

My first Introduction to Metal Art and Metal Nameplate business was in my birth place, city of Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina where I met  (deceased) Milorad Skiba, great visionary and my friend who was running great metal etching business in former Yugoslavia. (on photo Skiba and me in Igrane, Croatia 2002 – yeah…in that time I was walking)
Skiba-IgraneSkiba taught me first principles of metal etching & treating and when I came to Canada in mid of 1990, I have also learned some metal printing techniques and had established small Metal Nameplate & Label business Brass Name Co.

Here are some of my work:

Collection of Paul Gustave Doré etching now printed on Brass

Don-Quijote-1-1Paul Gustave Doré (1832 – 1883) was a French artist, engraver, illustrator and sculptor. Doré worked primarily with wood engraving and steel engraving. 1863 he illustrated a French edition of Cervantes’s Don Quixote, and his depictions of the knight and his squire, Sancho Panza, have become so famous that they have influenced subsequent readers, artists, and stage and film directors’ ideas of the physical “look” of the two characters. This collection has been created with Laser-Imprint on Brass with special matting with no glass and  rich wooden frame. Several sizes available.

Utagawa Kuniyoshi  Collection of prints on metal

Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797 -1862 ) was one of the last great masters of the Japanese ukiyo-e style of woodblock prints and painting. He is associated with the Utagawa school. The range of Kuniyoshi’s preferred subjects included many genres: landscapes, beautiful women, Kabuki actors, cats, and mythical animals. He is known for depictions of the battles of samurai and legendary heroes. His artwork was affected by Western influences in landscape painting and caricature. This collection has been created with Digital, Laser-Imprint process on Silver Aluminum with special matting with no glass and  rich wooden frame. Several sizes available.
